220 ml Water Bottle Filling Line (4.5 g Preform)

A complete 220 ml water line blows 4.5 g PET preforms into bottles on site, then fills, caps, labels and packs them in one connected line. It is built around a DEXIN 6–12 cavity small-bottle blow molding machine set up for ultra-light preforms, with handling from blower to filler designed for thin-walled bottles.

Overview

Small 200–250 ml bottles of still water are sold in large volumes to hotels, airlines, restaurants, events, offices and schools, and as low-price multipacks. The margin on each bottle is small, so the cost of PET decides whether the product pays. Bringing the preform down to about 4.5 g for a 220 ml bottle saves a large share of resin compared with heavier small-bottle preforms, but it leaves very little material to work with.

A line for this bottle is not just a standard water line with a smaller mould. Every machine that touches the bottle has to be set up for a thin, light container.

Blow molding a 4.5 g preform

With so little PET, small changes in preform temperature show up as thin spots, uneven bases or bottles that fail top-load. DEXIN high-speed blow molding machines use constant-voltage heating, so preform temperature does not drift when the grid voltage changes, and a lamp failure alarm stops bad bottles before they reach the filler. The mould, stretch rod and blowing pressure are set for your preform and bottle drawing, and we test-blow with your preforms before the machine ships.

Moving light bottles without tipping

An empty 220 ml bottle weighs only a few grams and falls over easily on a belt. The bottles travel from the blow molding machine to the filler on a neck-guided air conveyor, and the filler transfers them by the neck rather than the body.

Filling and capping thin-walled bottles

A rinsing–filling–capping monoblock with neck-handling star wheels and change parts for the 220 ml bottle fills still water at normal pressure, so the bottle is not squeezed. Capping torque is set so that the cap seals without crushing the shoulder. If your bottles need more rigidity for stacking, a liquid nitrogen doser can be added before the capper.

One line, more than one size

The small-pitch SS models handle bottles up to 0.6 L and 70 mm diameter, so the same line can also run 330 ml or 500 ml water with a second mould set and filler change parts.

Line layout

From preform and raw water to a packed pallet

  1. Water treatment

Filtration, softening, reverse osmosis and ozone or UV sterilization make product water to your local standard.

  2. Preform loading

An automatic loader orients 4.5 g preforms and feeds them to the blow molding machine.

  3. Blow molding

Constant-voltage heating and a mould set for your bottle turn each preform into a 220 ml bottle.

  4. Neck-guided air conveyor

Light empty bottles hang by the neck and are blown to the filler, so they do not tip over.

  5. Rinsing, filling, capping

A monoblock with neck-handling change parts rinses, fills at normal pressure and caps with controlled torque.

  6. Inspection

Fill level and cap checks reject faulty bottles automatically.

  7. Labeling and coding

A hot-melt OPP or shrink-sleeve labeler applies the label, and a coder prints the date and batch.

  8. Packing

Bottles are shrink-wrapped into multipacks or cartoned, then palletized.

Before installation

What you prepare on site

  • Preform and bottle drawing

Preform samples or drawing (4.5 g, neck finish) and the 220 ml bottle drawing. We use your preforms for test blowing before shipment.

  • Caps and labels

Caps that match the light-weight neck finish, and label or sleeve samples so the capper and labeler can be set up for them.

  • Water source and analysis

Well, spring or municipal water, with a raw-water analysis so the water treatment can be designed for it.

  • Production hall

A clean hall with a level, drained floor. Send us the building size and we draw the line to fit it.

  • Power and compressed air

Three-phase power (50–100 kW for the blow molding machine alone, by model), a 3.4 MPa high-pressure compressor (6–12 m³/min) and a low-pressure air supply.

  • Chilled and cooling water

Chilled water at 10–12 °C for the blow moulds and cooling water at about 30 °C.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Not answered here? An engineer will reply on WhatsApp or email.

Can your machines blow a 220 ml bottle from a 4.5 g preform?

Yes. The DEXIN high-speed series covers bottles from 0.2 L to 2 L, and the small-pitch SS models are made for bottles up to 0.6 L. Because a 4.5 g preform leaves little margin, we test-blow with your own preforms and bottle drawing and confirm the result before the machine ships.

How many 220 ml bottles per hour can the line make?

The blow molding machine sets the line output. The L6SS to L12SS models are rated at 14,000 to 28,000 BPH on 0.5–0.6 L bottles. We confirm the exact output for your 220 ml bottle and 4.5 g preform after test blowing, and size the filler, labeler and packer to match.

Is a 4.5 g bottle strong enough for transport and stacking?

It depends on the bottle design, the shrink pack and how high you stack. Send us your bottle drawing and packing plan. If more top-load strength is needed, a liquid nitrogen doser can be added before capping to pressurize the bottle slightly.

Will such light bottles fall over on the conveyor?

Empty bottles are moved by the neck on an air conveyor and the filler transfers them by the neck, so they do not stand on a belt until they are full and capped.

Can the same line also run 330 ml or 500 ml bottles?

Yes, within the range of the SS models (up to 0.6 L and 70 mm bottle diameter). Each extra size needs its own blow mould and filler change parts.

What do you need from me to quote a 220 ml line?

Preform samples or drawing (weight and neck finish), the bottle drawing, target output in bottles per hour, cap and label type, a raw-water analysis, your building size, and local voltage and frequency.
